(Kai is the name of throat singing in Altai.)
Musicians of the
AltaiKai ensemble are virtuosos of Altai throat singing – kai.
They skilfully sing
all styles
and variety of kai and play
traditional musical
instruments of Altai people. Velvety, low sounds of karkyraa,
fascinating hoomey and melodious sygyt – sybysky,
lively imitations of nature sounds (birds singing, purling of brook, animals
voices) - also delicacy women’s singing and woman’s throat singing, melodies
of khomus (jew’s harp), topshuur and accordion – all of that is AltaiKai.
Traditional Altai songs about Motherland and its beauty, about bogatyrs and
their past Power, about Altai people combined with joking tunes, dances and
shaman mysteries. Narrators kaichy sing traditional, sacred in Altai
heroic legends and eposes. All

June
2009
17-19th of July, Gorno-Altaisk (Altai Republic). There will be a
festival of world music "ALTAI". In the festival will take part musicians from
France, Chez Republic, Khakassia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, India and Russia.
Headliners are a legendary group Yatha (Tyva), Vladimir Karuev (Kalmykia).
VIP guest of the festival is Artemiy Troickiy, musical critic. Music,
literature, dances, crafts, theatre art and cuisine of people from different
countries will be represented on the festival. More then 10 concerts on 2
stages are waiting for you as soon as literary, dancing and playing grounds,
tens of workshops and hundreds exhibitions. The festival will have all necessary
services for guests: camping, parking, cafes and so on.
Organizers: AltaiKai ensemble, Ministry of Culture of Altai Republic.
Place: urochischa Elanda (Elandaa valley) in
Gorno-Altaisk - a living place of ancient men, park of marvelous landscape with
green hills, rocks and river with islands.
How to get from Moscow to Gorno-Altaisk: to Novosibirsk or Barnaul
by plane or by train, further to Gorno-Altaisk by bus from the bus
stations.
February 2009
19th of February is the concert of AltaiKai in Ekaterinburg's
Philharmonic.
November 2008
Urmat Yntaev took part in the World Musi Festival WOMAX
in Spain.
Now Urmat is warking on the project of the world music
festival in Gorno-Altaisk at July of 2009. If you're interesting in this

October 2008
At
9th-12th of October
there was a Folk Festival "Ynarhys" (A concord) in
Abakan (Khakassia Republic). Many musicians from Tyva, Buratia, Khakassia,
Tatarstan and Altai took part in it. AltaiKai wan a Gran-Prize of the festival.
September 2008
Urmat Yntaev with Symphonic Orchestra of Czech Republic
had a tour in Czech, Germany and France at 21-26th
of September.

July 2008
On Sayang ring festival AltaiKai won the prize "Legends
of the World Music". After the Sayang ring festival
AltaiKai had tours in Czech Republic, Slovakia and Great Britan: in London -
King Opera House, in Cardiff, Cambridge, Norwich, Oxford. AltaiKai took
part in WOMAD festival and gave a broadcast concert on the BBC radio.
June 2008
On the 3d international kurultai (festival) of throat singers in Ulagan
musicians of AltaiKai, Urmat Yntaev and Oirot Otukov, were awarded title
El Kaichy (National Narrator) of Altai Republic. Oirot Otukov won in
nomination "Narration". Amyr Akchin won in nomination "Styles of throat
singing". Also he got a special prize from the Govenment of Altai Republic -
a racing horse for 100 000 rubles.

Altai Kai was founded in 1997 in order to safe and develop an Altaian traditional culture. Altai Kai has the Prize of UNESCO (2001, Usbekistan, 3d national festival "Shark Taronalari"), a gold medal of Delphos games (Moscow 2000), a gold medal of throat singing international festival "Earth breath (Ulan-Ude 2005 ã.), is a Choros-Gurkin prize-winner of Altai Republic, a member of Russian Folk Union and International Organization of Folklore UNESKO. AltaiKai is in Gines's record book for long throat singing.
AltaiKai had tours in Russia, Kazahstan, Kyrgyzstan, Usbekistan, Ukrain, Mongolia, Poland, Czech Rapublic, Gernmany,
Finland, Austria, Norway, Switzerland, Turkey, USA, took a part in many TV programms.
Urmat Yntaev and AltaiKai have organazed Altyn-Taiga throat singing festival 3 times, in wich representatives from Tyva, Hakassia, Japan, England, USA took parts.
Now AltaiKai is working on projects in Czech Republic with youth ensemble "Roman", "Gradishtan" ensemble and Czech State Simphonic Orchestra, refreshing it's repertoire, improving mastering of throat singing.
Producer and manager is Urmat Yntaev, the founder of AltaiKai, ideologist of overtone singing. In 1997 he created the essemble "Karty-Kaan" in Ulagan, Altai Republic and in 2000 he renamed it to AltaiKai. altaikai @ ngs.ru
